
T. Wade Welch
T. Wade Welch attended law school at the University of Texas and college at the University of Houston. He entered college in 1981, received a B.S. degree two and a half years later in 1984, and then entered law school, receiving his J.D. in 1987.
Mr. Welch has been EchoStar Communications Corporation's outside litigator and lead trial lawyer since 1992. He has served as lead counsel in virtually all of EchoStar's high-profile litigation matters, including EchoStar's $5 billion lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch and The News Corporation that stopped Murdoch's attempt to acquire a U.S. satellite television presence in 1997. Mr. Welch also led EchoStar's multi-billion dollar antitrust lawsuit against DirecTV, which ultimately resulted in EchoStar's $26 billion merger bid for the rival company. Mr. Welch represents clients in all aspects of commercial litigation and through the appellate process.
In addition to driving high-powered litigation, Mr. Welch drives high-powered stock cars in the ROMCO Super Late Model Series.
